Sisiyi waterfalls is among the attraction in eastern Uganda Bulambuli district. Sisiyi waterfalls (not to be mistaken for Sipi waterfalls) are one of the most captivating places to visit in Eastern Uganda.

These fascinating waterfalls are found within eastern Uganda, in Buyaga sub-county of Bulambuli district. The breathtaking falls are just a short distance along the highway to the districts of Moroto, Sironko, Bulambuli and Kapchorwa making it a perfect stop while on a safari to Mount Elgon National Park.

Apart from only the locals of Bukibologoto Village around the Waterfalls, this destination is not well known as the Sipi waterfalls. Even when someone mentions Sisiyi, you might think the person was trying to say Sipi but made a mistake. When you are approaching the waterfalls, you will be welcomed by a white streak against a verdant hilly background and the roaring sound of the waterfalls.

The Sisiyi waterfalls derived its name from the ever flowing waters because it is believed that the waterfalls never run dry whether in rainy season or during the harsh dry seasons. Therefore anytime you visit the site, you will find the same level of water. The remarkable site sits on only 13 acres of land and is surrounded by a verdant forest.

The water falls run down the side of mount Elgon amidst green vegetation covering this side of the Elgon. Sisiyi Falls is rarely visited as travelers to Elgon Mountain opt for the famous Sipi Falls but sisiyi is also stunning.

HIKING

The Elgon region has rugged terrain which is ideal for hiking. Instead of using a vehicle to get to Sisiyi Falls, you can choose to hike towards it from the highway. You can also hike up the cliff the water falls over, which will give you a sense of adventure.

The area has a lot of vegetation which will protect you from harsh elements like the sun while giving you fresh air. In fact, you’ll be able to appreciate the wonderful scenery better when you hike in the area around Sisiyi Falls.

EVENTS

You can organize events near Sisiyi Falls. It’s a great place for all kinds of gatherings, for example, parties, team-building retreats, and outdoor games, among other activities.

PICNICS

You can sit and picnic with friends and family on the manicured lawns and lush grounds near Sisiyi Falls. You can enjoy a hearty meal surrounded by lush vegetation while hearing the roar of the water.

Where to Stay

There are cottages around the waterfalls constructed to accommodate the tourists allowing them enjoy the sounds of the gulping water falls in peace.  It is also advisable to have enough warm clothes as it gets freezing cold in the night. sisiya falls is perfect for get aways from the noise in the urban centers, you can opt to enjoy the waterfalls getting involved in activities include nature walks/hiking, bird watching and Rock climbing to the top of the fall visiting other water falls within Mbale region.
